We all want our event to be something special and one of the best ways to bring the wow factor is with floral decoration and design. But where to start? And how can you make sure that your Christmas party feels both festive and stylish?
We asked floral designer Elizabeth Marsh to share some of her top tips for designing a winning Christmas event.
1. Start planning well in advance - six months seems like a long time until you suddenly get caught up in a rush of unexpected business and before you know it the party will be looming and planning will suddenly feel stressful!
2. Discuss with others involved if you would like a specific theme for the party. This can create an interesting backdrop to the decorations and can help to make the entire event to come across as unique and special
3. However big your budget is, it never seems to quite fit the vision! So think about priorities right from the word 'go'. This way you will focus your budget on the things that are important and create a more powerful experience for the guests
4. Just because we are florists doesn't mean we only deal with flowers - using Christmas baubles can be a great way to bring colour, fun and decoration without breaking the bank
5. However, beautiful flowers do create a wow like no other - so we suggest either make the most of the one time of the year when you can go all out for drama - think of those glorious blacks and gold combos - or just relax into a backdrop of pungent vegetation with natural foliage arrangements, Christmas trees perhaps left natural or with a dusting of 'snow' for a more understated, experiential event
6. Sustainability is a big deal these days so ask us about how we can minimise the impact of those decorations on the environment and make your celebrations more meaningful
